The Eclipse: A Camper's Perspective

When I first began painting after college, I would paint from the images in my mind. I would stare at a person or place and then go home and try to recreate them with paint from memory. One of my first victims was my now husband. Well, I've been trying that process a little again thanks to this blog. This image is of last night's campfire (we went camping) during the lunar eclipse. It was a cold bugger of a night, and I stayed awake for most of it, making sure my daughter was warm enough, and breathing. A bunch of Texas musicians made it less lonely playing music till the wee hours. Nothing looks as good as a fire when you're cold and it's dark and you're in the middle of nowhere.
