Whale and Surfer Playing

I think whales like to play in the ocean even more than I do. This painting was inspired by a whale hunters sketch and my dream of peaceful relations between these beautiful animals and we humans. That's me on my big red surfboard.

A few days off the computer

I'll be off the computer this holiday weekend, but back on Monday with the weekend paintings. Be safe and have fun.

Blue Bird

I feel as stiff as this blue bird looks.

First Street Bridge Austin Texas

I've been longing to paint en plein air and was finally able to make it happen tonight. I did a few others like this before I started the blog and hope to get a series together for a local gallery.

Shell

Blue Paint

Forgive my late posting, I fell asleep when putting my daughter down two nights in a row, before posting.
I guess they are Mexican not Cuban street posters.

China Cup and Saucer with White Tea

A friend wrote and told me a story that included a pretty cup and saucer with tiny pink flowers. This is how I pictured said cup and tea.

Pink PIggy

I spent some time today studying old cuban poster art. BEAUTIFUL! Here is my attempt at the art that is so pleasing to my eye. I noticed lots of line drawings with paint running out of the lines and words. It goes against every thing we are taught in second grade.

Paris, Oh la la

My first trip to Paris was amazing, my second trip was just to get this little Eiffel Tower knick knack.

Bat Letters

Austin is known for its bats. Here are some letters that I drew today made out of bats.

The Crucifixion, A Mother's Day Meditation

A little ways back sa stranger asked me to paint the Crucifixion. I didn't think I would, but the request stuck with me and lately, my thoughts on the subject have centered around Mary and her experience. I guess Mother's Day convinced me to finally put something down on canvas. This painting shows Mary grieving at the bottom of the cross.

2 cards

I painted a birthday card for a one year old cousin today and a graduation card for a friend who got his MFA. I forgot to photograph them, but they were cute.

Italy Again

I've actually never been to Venice. This is a mother's day card for one of my moms.

Our Little Family

My daughter got a little "owee" today as little kids do, and one of the things I offered her, to sooth her sadness, was to have me draw a picture of our dog, she accepted and then asked for the rest of us. Here we are off the cuff.

Venice Italy in Watercolor

Before I visited Italy folks would tell me that after you go you long to return. That sure is the truth.

Balazuc France

This is France, but it reminds me of Maratea, Italy. I long to go back there.

Stop Rushing

My friend Stacy bought me this cool glass pen and ink set years ago and I've never found time to use it, just using it slows down time and clears my head. I love typography.

Faith

Someone pointed out that sending out positive thoughts can bring positive things your way. For instance, if I say, "I have so many bills" over and over, more bills will keep coming my way. Well, I tried this changing my thoughts process with the house work today. My mantra is typically "I can't keep up with the house and play", today I said "I can, and there is enough time," well I got the house all clean and played my fiddle for a long time.
