Lone Sunflower

My daughter ate some sunflower seeds the other day and then asked my husband where they come from. Later that night, he arrived at the house with a bunch of beautiful sunflowers for my curious monkey.

Feng Shui: Golden Yellow for Health

In feng shui, the middle of your house is the health quadrant. Yellow can be placed there to help with your family's health.

Girl in Blue

I'm an graphic designer by day, this painting is a color/word association painting. Who decided that baby girls shouldn't wear blue. In the fifties, many little girls were dressed in light blue (virgin blue) and way back, pink was considered a masculine color.

Red Sky in Morning

This canvas was a yellow bike, then a ship caught in a storm. Now, I've painted over it again with red. I love the layering and the texture. You can almost see hints of the ship through the red. When I was a kid, I loved the saying "Red sky in morning, sailor take warning, red sky at night, sailor delight." I would sit on big a rock in my backyard, look at the sky, and try to figure out the next day's weather. I miss feeling that close to the ocean.

Left Hand, Right Hand 1 — Limes

The painting on the left was done with my left and the one on the right with my right. I'm hoping to do a series of paintings that compare the results of my right and left hand. A little healthy competition between the two.

Red Headed Diva

This is the last in the red headed series, all from a figure drawing session here in Austin.

Red Headed Warrior

The first friend I ever made in this life (at age 1) has red hair, perhaps that's why I loved painting this model.

Red Headed Sleeper

Happy New Year everyone! Here is the first 2008 painting. I'm loving painting with my left hand. It's very interesting to switch hands, it almost feels like some else is doing the painting. And things actually look different.

Sesame Chalk Drawings

Tomorrow is the one year birthday of this painting blog...it's been an interesting painting journey. I painted just over 260 paintings. Many many thanks to all my supporters. As for this piece, I draw these fun shapes with chalk when I'm out with my daughter and wanted to see how they looked in paint.

Big Flowers in Orange with Green

This was fun to paint.

I've Been Tagged

Seems a game of blogger tag has begun, and I'm it. It's just like when I was a kid, except without the big rock to run to. I've been asked to expose some "things" about myself. Carol Marine tagged me. Thanks Carol, I hate sitting out.

Here are the rules: 1. Link to your tagger and post these rules on your blog. 2. Share 5 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird. 3. Tag 5 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs. 4. Let them know they are tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Here goes.
1. I'm Italian, French, Irish, and English.
2. I still breastfeed my 2 1/2 year old daughter.Here's the why?
3. My first job was working for Burger King at age 14. Thank god my best friend Stacy and I had to work all the same shifts, so our mom's could share the driving, or else I would have cracked up.
4. I'm prone to rescue dogs.
5. I had really really big hair in the 80s.

I'm tagging you: Harold Ambler, Robin Cheers, Speedway J, Kristin DiVona, and Qiang-Huang.

Sleeping on my Right Arm

On the plane ride home today from California, my daughter fell asleep on my right arm. The light on her was beautiful, so I capture the moment with my left hand.
